A Little About Me

I grew up in the state of Florida where I started to play the fiddle at 10 years old. Through the public school system I was able to start with classical lessons in the 5th grade. I can always remember my Dad keeping instruments in the house just in case any of us wanted to learn how to play one. Within a few short months my Dad found a little music store in Tampa called the Bluegrass Parlor that specialized in all things acoustic music. The store offered lessons on all of the bluegrass instruments but it was also where one could buy vintage records, all of the new music of the time, instruments, and accessories. I started fiddle lessons there at that store learning to play fiddle tunes. By the age of 14 I had joined my first band. By age 15 I was working on stage as a freelance fiddler for many local bands in the central Florida region.

During my younger years I spent many hours working on tunes that I could compete with in the various fiddle competitions where I was able to claim the title of Florida State Champion. I graduated from high school at 17 and was fortunate to have landed my first national touring gig with the band Florida based group Sand Mountain. After Sand Mountain disbanded 4 years later I worked with Lorraine Jordan and Carolina Road and spent nearly 5 years there. After my time with Lorraine I spent a year freelancing that included fill in dates with gospel group The Churchmen, legends Bobby Osborne and the Rocky Top Express and Jesse McReynolds and The Virginia Boys. Both of which I had the opportunity to play the Grand Ole Opry with. I then went to work for two years with Larry Stephenson as his first ever fiddle player. The call came in January of 09 to audition with Doyle Lawson and Quicksilver. I spent almost 6 years working side by side with the Bluegrass Hall of Fame inductee. I am currently now touring with the Ohio radio man Joe Mullins and the Radio Ramblers.

I am a born again Christian and when home from touring I can be found at church on Sundays with my family. My family includes my wife Sarah and kids Isaac and Adalynn. I’ll spend time working on fiddles doing restoration, repairs, and now building them. I also will buy, sell, and trade fiddles. I work fairly frequently in the recording studios as a session player, and enjoy producing as well. I also enjoy writing my own fiddle tunes and will write singing songs on occasion. From time to time I also will do leather tooling and make leather goods.
